The gerund looks exactly the same as a present participle, but it is useful to understand the difference between the two. The gerund always has the same function as a noun although it looks like a verb. Some uses of the gerund are covered on this page. Let's talk about the rent first.

हमने फैसला किया था कि हम यह दुबारा नहीं करेंगे |

l can’t express the joy l felt.

तुम्हारी सोंच हमेशा छोटी ही रहेगी |

You will always have a cheap thinking.

वो बेवकूफ तुम्हारे सामने ही खड़ा था | तुमने उसे पकड़ा क्यों नहीं ?

That fool was standing right before you. Why didn't you catch him'?

क्या वह सच में मेरे जैसा दिखता है |

A gerund always acts as a noun. Therefore a gerund can be a subject, object, complement,* or object of a preposition. * Complement is a word, clause, or a phrase that is required to complete the meaning of a sentence. Complements will be explained in detail in a separate post

 

मैं सोंच रही थी कि अगर हम दोनों इस हफ्ते बाहर डिनर पर चले ?

Actually I was thinking that if we both go out for dinner this week?

कल रात मेरे दोस्त के जन्मदिन पार्टी है |

there's my friend's birthday party tomorrow night.

चुपचाप अपना popcorn खाओ |

Quietly eat your popcorn!

A gerund /  d  r n d,- n d / abbreviated GER is any of various nonfinite verb forms in various languages; most often, but not exclusively, one that functions as a noun. In English, it has the properties of both verb and noun, such as being modifiable by an adverb and being able to take a direct object.

 

वह यही कहीं होगी |

She must be around.

यह हम शादी की बाद कर सकते थे ?

We could have done this after the wedding?

मुझे लगा मैंने कमल को किसी लड़की के साथ देखा |

I think I saw Kamal with some girl.

लेकिन मैं तुम्हें बहुत अच्छी तरह जानता हूँ |

A gerund is a noun made from a verb by adding ;-ing The gerund form of the verb ;read; is ;reading You can use a gerund as the subject, the complement, or the object of a sentence.

 

मेरा तुझे थप्पड़ मारने का मन कर रहा है |

I feel like slapping you.

उसका ख्याल रखना और हाथ मत छोड़ना |

Look after him and don't let go of the hand.

तू पूरी रात कहाँ था ?

Where were you all night?

अगर कमल ने एक बार कहा होता तो मैं उस लड़की को शादी के मंडप से उठा कर उसके सामने पटक देता |

If Kamal had just said once, then I would have abducted that girl from the wedding dais and thrown her in front of him!
